I LOVE watching short little video’s of people setting up their weekly or monthly spreads. There is something about seeing someone draw on paper that is therapeutic and soothing. It inspires and calms at the same time, and you just can’t stop watching, you need to see the masterpiece unfold! That’s why when I was setting up this spread I decided to record the process for you guys. I did it on my phone so it isn’t the best quality if you blow it up on a huge monitor, but it will help you see how simple this is to do and a bit of my process at the same time.
Plan with Me November
This video is short, just a few minutes long because I know you are busy and have some planning to get to. You’ll notice that there are pencil lines, this was so that the pre-planning was done as far as counting dots and placement and where I wanted everything to be. You might think that is a waste of time, and in some ways you would be right. I NEVER used to use pencil in my planner, but then I made mistakes. And then my perfectionist self stepped in and made me put down my bullet journal for months at a time because I couldn’t bear to look at it. Now I am learning that it is better to go a bit slower, to cut aspects of the bullet journal that aren’t practical for me (ie. I don’t do monthly planning, instead I stick with weekly and daily, otherwise I find it just too much and I don’t stick with it at all). I know that most people do monthly planning and I had a lot of fun planning out these spreads for you (see the full collection of monthly spreads HERE) but this one was my favorite. Grab a pencil and plan with me! I can’t wait to see yours! Don’t forget to use #planninginspiration4u on Instagram for a chance to be featured!
Creating a Planning Habit
Tomorrow I am going to be talking about the “habit” of planning. Because for planning to be successful long-term, you have to get into a bit of a rhythm and guys, that takes time. It isn’t something that happens over night, which is why challenges like this are great for us, they push us to commit, we are inspired by other people and we are held accountable (if for no other reason than our own pride). We’ll get into the biggest pitfalls with planning and how to avoid those! It will be a “sip your tea” kind of post, so stop in if you can! I’d love to see you!
Did you know this is part of a 31 day series? There will be a post each day this month showcasing how I use bullet journaling, planning, hand lettering, and more! We will talk about the tools you need and I’ll review some of my pen hoard (including my brand new flex fountain pens, eeeeek!). There will be videos, pictures, hand lettering practise pages, doodle challenges, journaling prompts, some amazing giveaways, and hopefully a TON of inspiration to get you writing in your planner, whatever that may look like for you! How can you get on board?
